Dirty filters cause your units to work harder and will cause damage down the road. Plus, all the extra work leads to a higher power bill, so do yourself a favor and change those filters regularly!

New air conditioning units have an average lifespan of 10-12 years. It is common to have small issues before this time, but regular HVAC tune-ups can help.

As mentioned earlier, changing your filters regularly and having preventive maintenance done every spring and fall will save you money in the long run. Keeping your outdoor unit clean and grass-free is also very important. Grass is a common culprit when an outdoor coil is dirty and less efficient. An obvious way to save energy is to program your thermostat to run less while you are away and turn the temperature up/down in the summer/winter months. Our last recommendation to reduce your HVAC usage would be to use your ceiling fan. It's simple, but it works!
